Types of Fish
Our waters are teeming with a variety of fish species. Each fish has its own unique characteristics, including size, weight, and difficulty to catch. Here are some of the fish you might encounter:

Types of Water
There are three main types of water bodies, each offering different fishing opportunities. Here is a map to help you identify the water types:
Freshwater: Includes locations like ALAMO, GRAPES, and SLAB.
Flowing Water: Found in places like CCREAK, ZANCUDO, and TONGVAV.
Saltwater: Coastal areas such as BEACH, BURTON, and PALMPOW.

Fishing Rod
You can obtain a fishing rod from either the Fish Market or a Convenience Store. Ensure you have enough inventory space.
Using the Fishing Rod
Via Inventory [TAB]: Navigate to your inventory and drag the fishing rod to use "USE" button, or right click the fishing rod and select "USE" from the dropdown.
Hotkey (If in Inventory Hotkey Spot): Press the assigned hotkey for quick access.
Fishing Actions
Casting: While holding your fishing rod. Hold left mouse button to charge the cast strength (Visible in the bottom right of the screen), when the mouse button is released, a bobber will be cast.
Reeling In: While you have an active bobber cast, you can hold left mouse button to reel it in. Make sure you have a fish hooked first!
Skill Check
A skill check appears when a fish is hooked. You have 7 to 90 seconds between hook times to successfully reel in the catch.
Fish Handling
Convert to Bait/Chum: Right-click a fish in your inventory to convert it into bait or chum for future fishing endeavors.
Release: Right-click a fish to release it back into the water. Gain XP for respecting legal length limits.
Average Price per Lbs.
Prices for fish vary, and the average price per pound is calculated based on the weight of the fish. Visit the Fish Market to sell your catch and earn some extra cash.
Legal Limits and Roleplay Consequences
Legal Length Limits
Each type of fish comes with a legal length limit that players should adhere to. When catching fish, make sure they meet or exceed the specified legal length. Here are the legal length limits for common fish:
Example Fish:
Legal Length: 20 inches
If the caught fish measures below this limit, it's considered illegal and you should release it. Releasing a fish under the legal limit will yield XP.
Roleplay Consequences
In the world of CALRP, violations of fishing regulations can have consequences. Law enforcement or wildlife officials may issue citations or even arrest individuals for breaking fishing laws, such as:
Keeping Undersized Fish:
Players found in possession of fish below the legal length could be subject to fines or citations. In cases of repeated violations, individuals may face arrest, and their fishing equipment might be confiscated.

We're excited to introduce a new feature that will allow players to enhance their fishing experience through chumming or baiting the water. This upcoming addition will enable players to strategically deposit chum in the water, attracting a higher quantity and quality of fish to the vicinity.
